It's strongly advised to create your bot on a separate Discord account (not your primary account) to keep it secure and isolated. If your bot gets disabled, all members will be lost!
Secure your Discord bot: A step-by-step guide
Follow the instructions to minimize the risk of your bot being disabled.
Before You Start
Before creating your bot, keep these important points in mind:
- Easy Process: RestoreCord guides you through each step to make setup as simple as possible
- Separate Bot Account (Recommended): Create your bot on a dedicated Discord account to keep it secure and isolated
- Follow Discord's Rules: Violating Discord's Terms of Service increases the risk of bot ban and losing all member data
Creating a Discord Application
Open Discord Developer Portal
Head over to the Discord Developer Portal and click New Application.
Give your Application an appropriate name. This name will be displayed to your members during verification.
Create a Bot
After creating an application, navigate to the Bot section in the left sidebar and click Reset Token to generate your bot token.
You can customize your bot's name and avatar. Make sure to use an appropriate name as it will be displayed in the member list.
Adding Your Bot to RestoreCord
Navigate to Bots
Go to the RestoreCord Dashboard, select Bots in the sidebar, and click Add New Bot.
Acknowledge the Guidelines
Read and acknowledge that you understand the risks: if your bot gets disabled or deleted on Discord's platform, your members will be lost. Check the box to confirm you have followed all prevention guides.
Create Your Discord Bot
Click Get Started and follow the visual guide to create a new application in the Discord Developer Portal if you haven't already.
Enter Bot Credentials
You'll need to provide three pieces of information from your Discord application:
Go to your application in the Discord Developer Portal, navigate to Bot section, and click Reset Token to get your bot token. Paste it in the Bot Token field.
Complete Setup
Click Continue to Final Step to finish creating your bot on RestoreCord.
You have successfully created a Discord Bot for RestoreCord! You can now create a server to start backing up your members.
