Verification Reminders
Remind Discord members to verify. RestoreCord's bot DMs each member who joined but has not verified, after a delay you choose, with a message you design.
A verification reminder is a direct message your bot sends to members who joined your Discord server but have not verified yet, once a delay you choose has passed. It carries your verify link, so members who missed the verification message can still finish in one tap.
Go to Extras › Reminder message
Reminder messages require a Business plan or higher. On lower plans the setting is greyed out with a Business badge.
How reminders work
- A member joins. Your bot sees the join and starts a timer for that member. Bots that join are skipped.
- The delay passes. When the Reminder delay is up, your bot checks the member again.
- The DM goes out, but only if the member is still in the server and still unverified.
- One per join: each member gets one reminder per join. Nothing is repeated.
- Rejoining: leaving cancels the reminder. Joining again starts a new one, timed from the new join.
- Verifying cancels it: a member who verifies before the delay is up gets no reminder.
- New joins only: members who joined before you turned reminders on are not reminded.
The reminder is always a DM. It is never posted in a channel.
Turn on reminders
Open the Extras tab
Open your server in the dashboard and go to Extras. The Reminder message row sits below the Welcome message.
Turn on Reminder message
Turn on the switch, then click Configure. A drawer opens with a preview of the message and the Reminder delay.
Set the delay
Set the delay in hours and minutes. See Reminder delay for the range.
Save
Press Save at the bottom of the tab. The switch and the delay are part of the server form, so nothing changes until you save.
Reminder delay
How long after a member joins the reminder is sent.
| Value | |
|---|---|
| Shortest | 5 minutes |
| Longest | 7 days (168 hours) |
| Default | 6 hours |
- The timer starts when the member joins. Changing the delay only affects members who join after you save. Reminders already scheduled keep their original time.
- Reminders can arrive a few minutes late.
Customize the message
The reminder is a Message Studio design, like your verification message.
- Edit message: in the Configure drawer, opens the reminder in Message Studio. When you are done, you return to the Extras tab.
- Reset to default: goes back to the built-in reminder right away, without deleting your design.
- Edits apply to pending reminders: reminders already scheduled use your latest design.
The built-in reminder is an embed titled "Still need to verify for {server_name}" with the text "You have not verified yet. It only takes a moment — tap the button below." and a Verify now link button.
Keep a {verify_url} link or button in your design, or members have nothing to click. Useful variables:
| Variable | Becomes |
|---|---|
{verify_url} | Your server's verify link |
{server_name} | Your server's name |
{member_count} | The server's member count |
{username} / {user_mention} | The member receiving the reminder |
Requirements
- Business plan: reminders stop when the server owner's plan drops below Business. Reminders that were already scheduled are skipped.
- Bot online: your bot must be online when the member joins, or no reminder is scheduled. If it is offline when a reminder is due, the reminder may not be sent. See Bot Errors.
- Server Members intent: your bot needs the Server Members privileged intent to see joins. See Bot Commands.
- Open DMs: members who block DMs from server members, or who blocked your bot, cannot be reached, and their reminder isn't sent.
- Verify roles: your bot decides who is still unverified from your On Verify Action roles:
| On Verify Action | Reminder sent when the member |
|---|---|
| Give Role | does not have the Verified Role |
| Remove Role | still has the Unverified Role |
| Both | does not have the Verified Role |
In Give Role or Both mode with no Verified Role set, every reminder is skipped, because your bot cannot tell who is unverified. Members given the Verified Role by hand are also skipped.

Reminders and auto kick
Auto kick removes members who have not verified within a set time. Both timers start when the member joins and run separately.
- Set the reminder delay shorter than the auto kick time. A member who is kicked before the reminder is due never gets it, because leaving cancels the reminder. For example, remind after 1 hour and kick after 24 hours.
- Kick message: a separate DM, sent right before auto kick removes someone. Use it to share your verify link so they can come back.
Other ways to raise your verification rate
- Welcome message (Premium): a DM sent the moment someone joins, pointing them to your verify link. The reminder then follows up with those who did not verify. Welcome message
- A clear verification message: design the message in your verify channel so the button is obvious. Create a verify message
- Hide channels until members verify: automatic setup hides your protected channels until a member verifies, so verifying is the only way in. Set up verification channels
- Measure it: compare Joined and Verified in Analytics, and use tracking links to see which promotions bring in members who verify.
