Auto-Kick Unverified Members

Automatically kick Discord members who don't verify in time. Set a 1 minute to 7 day timer, DM them your verify link first, and fix auto kick not working.

Auto kick removes members who join your Discord server but don't verify within a time you choose. Each new member gets a timer when they join. Verifying or leaving cancels it. If the timer runs out first, your bot kicks them, and can DM them your verify link just before.

Go to Extras › Auto kick

Auto kick and the kick message require a Business plan or higher. On lower plans the switch is greyed out with a Business badge.

Turn on auto kick

Open the Extras tab

Open your server in the dashboard and go to Extras. Auto kick sits below the welcome and reminder messages.

Turn on Auto kick

Turn on the Auto kick switch ("Automatically kick members who do not verify within the configured time."). A Configure button appears next to it.

Set the time

Click Configure and enter the time in hours and minutes. In the same dialog you can turn on the kick message.

Save

Press Save. The timer and the kick message switch are saved with the rest of your server settings, so nothing changes until you save.

The full setting reference is in Extras › Auto kick.

Timer options

OptionValue
Shortest1 minute
Longest7 days (168 hours)
Default1 hour the first time you turn it on
Off and on againBrings back the last time you used
  • The timer starts when the member joins. The kick time is fixed at that moment.
  • Changing the time only affects new joins. Members already waiting keep the time they joined with.
  • Turning auto kick off stops all waiting kicks.
  • Timing: the kick can happen a short while after the timer runs out.

Who gets kicked

When a timer runs out, your bot checks the member's roles against your On Verify Action. The member is kicked only if they still look unverified:

On Verify ActionKicked when the member…Never kicks anyone if…
Give Roledoes not have the Verified Rolethe Verified Role is No Role
Bothdoes not have the Verified Rolethe Verified Role is No Role
Remove Rolestill has the Unverified Role—

Who is never kicked

  • Bots. Bots that join never get a timer.
  • People who were already in your server when you turned auto kick on.
  • Members who verified. Verifying on the web or through the bot's verify button cancels the timer.
  • Members who left. Leaving cancels the timer.
  • Members who look verified when the timer runs out, as in the table above.

To spare one person, give them the Verified Role yourself, or in Remove Role mode take away their Unverified Role. There is no list of exempt roles. A /bypass only skips firewall checks and does not stop auto kick.

Kick message

A direct message your bot sends to the member right before it kicks them. Turn it on with the Kick message switch in the Configure dialog, then use Edit message to change it in Message Studio. It requires Business or higher.

The default message is titled "Verification expired for {server_name}" and has a Verify with Discord button, so the member can verify and come back. Your own design must keep a link button whose URL is exactly {verify_url}, or it cannot be saved.

See Extras › Kick message for the setting itself.

What kicked members see

  • The kick message, if it is on. Without it, they get no message from RestoreCord.
  • Removal from your server. A kick is not a ban, so they can come back.
  • Coming back: they can rejoin with any invite. If they verify from the kick message link while Add verified members is on, verifying adds them back to your server with their roles.
  • A new timer starts each time they join again, until they verify.

Kicked members never verified, so they do not appear on your Members page.

Requirements

RequirementWhy
Business plan or higherAuto kick and the kick message are Business features. If your plan drops below Business, waiting kicks are skipped and new joins get no timer.
Your bot is in the server and onlineThe bot sees joins and does the kicking. See Background features.
Server Members IntentWithout this privileged intent, your bot never hears about joins, so nobody gets a timer.
Kick Members permissionDiscord refuses the kick without it. The dashboard's invite link includes it.
Bot role above the member's highest roleDiscord won't let a bot kick a member with an equal or higher role. In Remove Role and Both modes, that means above the Unverified Role.
A role to checkPick a Verified Role (Give Role, Both) or an Unverified Role (Remove Role). See Who gets kicked.

If the dashboard shows "Privileged intents are disabled" on your bot, follow Bot Errors › Bot status & token.

Go to Bots › Restart Bot

Use it with reminders

A verification reminder DMs unverified members once after a delay. Leaving the server cancels it, and a kick counts as leaving. Set the reminder delay shorter than the auto kick time, or the reminder is never sent. For example, a 1 hour reminder with a 24 hour auto kick gives members a nudge and plenty of time to act on it.

Use it against raids

Raid accounts usually join and never verify. With a short auto kick time, they are removed automatically instead of sitting in your member list. Auto kick is a clean-up step, not a gate: raiders are still in your server until their timer runs out. Pair it with the steps in Protect Your Server from Raids, and keep unverified members out of your channels with a verification channel.

Logs and tracking

  • Discord's Audit Log records each kick under your bot's name.
  • Analytics counts kicks as leaves in the Left line, which needs Business. See Analytics › Members tab.
  • The dashboard has no separate list of auto-kicked members.
